Table design ARANEA
Design by Hugo de Ruiter (NL)
Multipurpose and aesthetic
The new ARANEA table concept from Hugo de Ruiter combines the practical aspect of a boat-shaped oval design with the grandeur of a large table, executed in timeless solid wood.
Over the centuries, the table has always received a central place in the domestic interior. An impressive table created from a noble material has an eyecatcher effect, lending an artistic cachet to any room in which it stands. Today the table as interior object is increasingly receiving a multifunctional character, and it is often used as an eating element, meeting table or office desk. So it isn´t surprising that wide, inviting tables score highly with the public.
In this perspective, Hugo de Ruiter designed the ARANEA table, a boat-shaped oval model in impeccable solid walnut or oak with a masterful table top made from a single piece of wood. The creation comes across as a brilliant exemplar of nature which, thanks to the artistic wood grain pattern, exerts a fascinating attraction.
With profound respect for the sustainable wood types from which the ARANEA table is made, Hugo de Ruiter has signed a rounded-edge table which eliminates the usual cramped sitting position at the table ends by creating extra sitting room. A useful advantage for a non-extendible table.
For the design of the legs, designer de Ruiter looked to nature and was inspired by the slender high legs of the spider. They delicately carry the artistic natural wood top and elevate the creation into a beautiful design object.
Just like the entire JORI collection, the ARANEA table is created with painstaking craftsmanship in the JORI production workshops in Belgium and is available in walnut or white oak.
